I can’t be the only one with a large stash of throw pillows tucked in various closets throughout the house. Every visit to Home Goods results in me making a mad dash from my trunk to another closet my Husband would never look in….until we moved.
“Every season calls for a different color, a different texture, a different vibe…” I’d tell him as I fluffed new pillows monthly on the couches and beds, not missing his exaggerated eye roll every time.
When we were moving back to Canada, I had the greatest task in life of Marie Kondo-ing every item we owned which made me quickly realize that as far as my throw pillow selection was concerned, although I had a variety of patterns and array of textures, I didn’t have any classic neutrals that would ‘spark joy’ through the test of time.
When we moved back to Canada (during Covid-19) it was impossible to find that classic pillow that would go with our new minimal-neutral pallet (most of our belongings are still in storage). Enter THE KIRBY.
I decided to design the throw pillow I’ve lacked all these years. The Kirby is named after a street in Houston, Texas that will forever be near and dear to us. We have tons of memories made along that strip during our almost 10 year chapter in Houston. With a mix of diverse shopping, the neighborhoods surrounding Kirby have a variety of luxury and family functionality. It’s the street I drove when I needed a little life inspiration or to visit all my favorite shopping spots and go to Sushi Bar, Kata Robata.
THE KIRBY has the ability to elevate any couch or bed while staying true to its everyday simplicity. As a stand alone on an accent bench or chair, or mixed in with patterns on a couch, it’s the easiest styling throw pillow in any season... and the one pillow I’ll never hide in any closet of our home.
